Multiple Poker Runs happen on the water at Lake of the Ozarks each year. A few of mention are the BFD Fun Run and Harbor Hop in spring and fall. Click those links to view their individual event pages. Both are also explained below. Have fun, and call us if you need anything!
Big Thunder Marine hosts an annual Fun Run/Poker Run that features a record turnout of Fountain, Baja, and Donzi Boats and their owners on Lake of the Ozarks. More than 120 boaters joined for July 2019 in the Fun Run organized by Big Thunder Marine and Iconic Marine. Participants come from nationwide to celebrate these 3 niche and iconic boating brands.
The event was launched in 2018 to raise awareness about these three boat brands. Fred Ross purchased Big Thunder Marine in 2015 and formed Iconic Marine Group in 2016. Iconic features Baja, Donzi and Fountain boats. Each year may have a different itinerary, but 2019 started Friday morning with breakfast at Camden on the Lake. Boaters pickup their first card at the resort, then continue to the next stops throughout the day collecting more cards to make the best poker hand possible.
If you have ever been interested in a Poker Run on the water, and are an aficionado of Baja, Fountain, or Donzi powerboats, the BFD run is for you. Come down and enjoy.
Harbor Hop is a twice annual boating event at Lake of the Ozarks. Harbor Hop is a Poker Run format that takes place in the spring and fall at various lake bars and restaurants at Lake of the Ozarks. Although cancelled in 2020, lake area restaurants such as Backwater Jack’s, Dog Days, and Shady Gators are already geared up for spring Harbor Hop in May 2021.
Lots of people look forward to a reason to pile on a boat or yacht and cruise to the various lake stops. Many more people use Harbor Hop as a good reason to indulge (and overindulge) in libations that are also infamous at Lake of the Ozarks. While underway, remember to grab a playing card at each stop to try and make the best poker hand possible to win your share of prizes in the chart below.
1st Place: 10%
2nd Place: 9%
3rd Place: 8%
4th Place: 7% each
5th - 10th Place: 5% each
4 Worst Hands: 4% each
Random Drawing for 10 Hands: 2% each
(all ties will share the allocated percentage for the placing)
Harbor Hop is a great reason to hit the water in the offseasons when the weather is still perfect.
