Lake of the Ozarks State Park is the largest state park in Missouri and is filled with natural beauty and recreation. If you are looking for calmer water in what feels like an entirely different locale, head to the Lake of the Ozarks State park and find your Shangri-La.
With only a few tracts of land developed within the State Park, either being with condos, houses, or other recreational outposts, you can enjoy solitude and seclusion unlike many lake locations in Osage Beach, Camdenton, or near Bagnell Dam. There are many secluded coves and shorelines within the park to drop an anchor to chill out, swim, fish, wakeboard, or have a picnic. If you are looking for something more lively, Lake of the Ozarks State Park also contains the notorious Party Cove. While the heyday of Party Cove was mostly a thing of the past, the past few years have been somewhat of a revival of yesteryear.
Kirby’s School of Wake also operates near and within Lake of the Ozarks State Park. Wakeboarding, boating, skiing, tubing, swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking are always a good time at the park. There are public boat ramps at PB1 and PB2 (public beach). This is where bass tournaments such as the Big Bass Bash and FLW take off in the morning and weigh in throughout the day.
By land, hiking, horseback riding, camping, bicycling, and even morel mushroom hunting are all great activities. There are campgrounds within the park as well as the Girl Scout Camp and Fort Leonardwood’s R&R camp for active duty military.
